Sara W. Everitt, Senior Environmental Engineer

Sara W. Everitt has 25 years of environmental compliance, agency negotiation, and engineering experience. Her diverse background includes experience working with large Fortune 500 companies in regulatory and environmental compliance programs, including water quality, hazardous waste, and air quality permitting. She also has program implementation experience in RCRA Part B Permit compliance, California’s Hazardous Material/Hazardous Waste program, NPDES and industrial waste water discharge permit compliance, and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan development. Her experience includes work on complex legislative and regulatory development programs at both the State of California and Federal levels. She has successfully worked with numerous federal, state and local regulatory agencies on a wide variety of environmental compliance programs.

Prior to joining Fletcher Consultants in 2015, Ms. Everitt was a legislative and regulatory analyst for Chevron Corporation, where she analyzed and developed policy positions on federal state and local legislative matters and regulations. In this capacity she lead efforts on water quality and waste issues, developed advocacy strategies, and worked with EPA and other agencies on legislation and various industrial regulations. She also advocated to reduce industry impacts on DTSC’s Green Chemistry legislation, and successfully obtained exemptions for transportation fuels and additives.

Ms. Everitt was also a Principal Environmental Engineer at the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) in the Power Generation Business Unit. In this capacity, she directed the environmental compliance work for environmental field personnel and provided expert level technical support in hazardous materials and hazardous waste, water quality, TSCA, RCRA, and SPCC programs. She also directed environmental risk management programs for water quality, air quality, and PCB equipment management.

Ms. Everitt was also instrumental in the development of successful state legislation that simplified hazardous waste emergency response plans for remote sites, and worked on developing hazardous material compliance management systems for federal requirements under SARA Title 311, 312, and 313. She provided environmental compliance assistance to various other departments within PG&E, including agency negotiations, training, and compliance document preparation and development.

Her prior engineering experience includes working at Bechtel Corporation, where she engineered and implemented designs for vapor extraction remediation projects, as well as preparing detailed engineering designs for refinery equipment and petrochemical facilities.
